Around twenty-four species of whale and dolphin have been recorded in the Galápagos. There may be more or less, but identification is difficult. Often spotted by visitors will be at least one species of whale such as the Bottlenose Dolphin. Distinctive features can easily distinguish certain whales such as the Orca, Humpback and Sperm Whales; and other whales can be identified by their 'spout' or 'blow'.
