Galapagos at Grow London
We’re thrilled to be exhibiting at Grow London this year, the capital’s first and only contemporary gardening and lifestyle fair, taking place in Hampstead Heath: 24th – 26th June 2016.
We’ll be curating a Galapagos theme throughout our space in the Grow Living area, the selected lifestyle brand area of Grow London, and paying homage to the islands where Charles Darwin famously explored in 1835, voyaging as a young naturalist on the HMS Beagle. Years later, his amalgamate research based from the thousands of specimens he collected would result in what would arguably be the most significant book ever published: On the Origin of Species.
“Our Galapagos-inspired space at Grow London is our small way of communicating to people that we are enthused by the natural world, and by how spectacular and colourful life is; in particular the Galapagos archipelago – life on these volcanic islands, which has evolved distinctly from the rest of the world. It’s this awe-inspiring place, and its intense study by Darwin that led to his theory of evolution, that summarises our curiosity for the world. And we’ll be hoping to emanate this feeling to anyone passing by,” says Alf the owner.
“We knew a bit about the Galapagos before, but in planning for Grow London, with each day passing it’s grown into a healthy obsession. We've since become a monthly donator of the Galapagos Conservation Fund – and with our completely unique space, we aim to inspire appreciation for the natural world, conservation and sustainability. We're not lucky enough to go yet, but we want to talk about it as much as we can, until we do go.”
“I hope those passing by won’t see our exotic-looking space and perceive us as a botanical styling brand; or a business that is going ‘tropical’ again. Although we sell planters and products that could be perceived as fashionable, or fun, or even gimmicky – it’s a very real obsession for natural history which drives us, and will hopefully inspire others.”
Products showcased will link uniquely to the Galapagos islands, ranging from botanical inspired items including: contemporary natural world illustrated stationery from foliage notebooks to cactus stamp sets; unusual cacti and succulents in science vessels; design-led glass planters; cacti vases; giant Galapagos tortoise toy models; ammonites, shells, sea urchins and more natural curiosities; vintage prints and exclusive screen prints. Also, most intriguingly, we'll be launching an exclusive soy candle, a scent inspired by the Galapagos archipelago.
